Here’s my set from my Nightlight Lounge debut on Friday 1/8. Lots of pop punk per usual, plus a bit of stretching out into some indie rock territory. It was a birthday party of Electric Emmons, hence the Beatles cut.

I couldn’t get SAM to sort it in descending order…or is it ascending order? Whatever, you’re seeing it starting with the last song listed first. Whichever order that is.

I think, if a couple of months ago someone had taken me aside and said, “Hey Zo, I know you have your sights set on being a successful prim-snapper, but why don’t you try DJ’ing instead!” I would have LOL’d them into oblivion. It’s not that I don’t have respect for DJ’s – quite the opposite. My sister from another prim-ster, Kristen Rubble, has been rocking avies from here to Cincinnavies for ages and I’ve had nothing but respect for all that entails. In fact, it’s precisely because of that respect for it that I never tried to do it. Plus, I still don’t have a mic. Plus, I listen primarily to punk, ska and big band, and it’s hard enough trying to find just one person to gush over my fave bands with without attempting to fill an entire club with them. So yeah, a big “LOL WOT??” to that whole idea!

But then, something happened, as some things are so fond of doing. The love of my life decided she wanted her own club. Despite my warnings that clubs are a sure-fire Linden-pit, there was no swaying her. She wrangled up Rudd and Kristen as DJ’s and the four of us got to work on the place. Something like three weeks and a handful of events later, Courage My Love is taking off better than any of us could have hoped.

We’ve hired a couple of DJ’s from outside the family – Zara Mistwallow and Shaun Chaffe – both of whom play the sort of stuff we life. Offbeat indie and dance and punk and all that good stuff that’s in short supply around the grid. So, that’s happening. If you want to check it out (and I kinda think that you do!) here’s the addy:

Olivia’s also keeping both a blog and a Plurk (peep my blogroll) to keep track of all the club happenings. She’s been busy as a bunny on crack, and so have I and everybody else, which means that my burgeoning photog career kind of got put on the backburner while we made a club happen.

I’m hoping to rectify that in the coming weeks. I’ve set up a kiosk outside of Courage My Love where I eventually hope to serve as my central ops for Zotography (cute, right?), my freelance photography business. It’s still in the baby stages, so I’ll be sure to provide more details once the details make themselves more apparent.

I had a killer set at CML on Friday. So many people, so much fun. I was going to write more about that, but it kind of defies what my limited ability with the English language is capable of. Just know it was fucking awesome. Hopefully you’ll be there next time to see what I’m talking about

No such luck on the job front (yet!), BUT, thanks to Kristen, the attached pic from the last shoot with her and Rudd was selected to be featured on the mega-awesome Artilleri group on Flickr!

STOKED IS AN UNDERSTATMENT! Hopefully this will send the masses flooded my way for my services, but it’s pretty kick-ass regardless. I owe it all to Kristen and, well, at least partly owe it to my own awesomeness.

But Rubble has been exceptionally supportive of me actually having a paying job instead of mooching off of her and her husband. You should also check out the rest of her flickr, because she not only takes gorgeous pics in her own right, she also has some snapshots of the latest in a long stream of residential surroundings. I chipped in what I had for our own private island sim, which she wrote about so much better here. I LOVE IT!!! I love Olivia and I having our own, real house, instead of just a room. Our first day there, Olivia rezzed a bunch of posters she made just for me, including personal faves like Katy Perry and one for the movie Ghost World, which would totally be a cinematic metaphor for our lives, if only Enid and Rebecca made out and felt each other up a lot. WHICH THEY SHOULD HAVE!

I recently applied for a job at Kiss My Camera, a really hip studio that I hope my lack of experience doesn’t keep me from landing a job at. I’m keeping my fingers crossed guise! Until then, it’s Sundays at Gnarled Oak and Wednesdays at Lounge of Dreams to watch my sister do her deejay thing. The other nights are all about Olivia, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. She really needs to get a blog though – NOT THAT I SHOULD TALK!

I’ll pretty much keep it all in-world here. Updates on my outs and abouts, and of course tons of pictures, since that is what I do. My bff’s consist of Kristen Rubble and her lovely partner Rudd Paulse. We engage in the usual in-world nerdery, which I will do my best to document here in full-color detail. My personal partner in crime is Olivia Button, but I may keep a lid on most of our exploits, since they tend to be pretty kinky.

Anyway, I’ve spent most of the morning editing my flickr to make it more pleasing and accessible for the general public. Doing so has left me with precious little energy to write a very exciting blog entry. So this will have to do for now! I hope you enjoyed this, Rubble!
